Let’s Clarify “Curvy”, Shall We?

Let’s Clarify “Curvy”, Shall We?

For some odd reason that I cannot understand, and probably never will, some people have a real “issue” with being referred to as “Curvy”. Like it’s a bad thing or something to be ashamed of, when it’s NOT.

So, considering my blog is called “Curvy Girls Pole”, I’ve decided to take it upon myself to offer a moment of clarity for how I consider the word Curvy.

For starters:

CURVY IS NOT A CUTE, GENTLE, OR NICE WAY OF SAYING FAT!

(Let me say that again)

CURVY IS NOT A CUTE, GENTLE, OR NICE WAY OF SAYING FAT!

and while we’re at it, let’s just rid our vocabulary of that word as it typically serves no other purpose than to make heavy or overweight people, who already know that they’re overweight, feel worse about themselves.

Semantics!

Back on topic,

Curvy is a way to describe someone who doesn’t fit the “thin girl” mold. She may have a larger bust or wider hips or a rounder booty or a fuller waist. This does NOT make her automatically unhealthy, overweight or out of shape. It simply means she has curves!

Models are curvy!

She may not be a Kate Moss( Model)

but she’s no less beautiful than an Ashley Graham (Model).

or a Tess Munster (model)

athletes ARE CURVY!

If stunning plus size models are not enough to convince you that being “curvy” is nothing to be ashamed of, let’s consider the fact that many well known ATHLETES are curvy.

Take the incredible ballerina Misty Copeland!

Statistically, someone that is 5’2″ and 102 pounds may make you automatically assume that that person is thin. That’s not the case in the world of ballet, where Misty is considered curvy.

Despite her small frame, SHE HAS CURVES!

Another well – known athlete is Tennis Superstar, Serena Williams.

article-0-1A69D06200000578-949_634x435She has a larger bust, booty and arms, but she’s no less athletic or healthy. She’s just curvy.

Pole dancers ARE CURVY!

OF COURSE, I have to mention the wonderful Curvy ladies in the world of pole!

There’s the amazing Emma Haslam who appeared on Britain’s Got Talent

curvy is only as negative as you allow it to be.

If someone calls you curvy and you feel like they mean it in a negative way, genuinely tell them “Awww, You’re So Sweet! Thank You So Much!” It takes ALL of their power away. No one can break you down if you don’t allow them to.

Overall,

Athletes are Curvy

Models are Curvy

Fitness Experts are Curvy

Pole Dancers are Curvy

Big Women are Curvy

Small Women are Curvy

I am Curvy

Chances are, if you’re reading this, you’re Curvy too!

All types of women are curvy!

EMBRACE IT!

It’s a great thing!

LOVE YOUR BODY THE WAY IT IS!

BE CONFIDENT IN YOUR CURVY!
