There are so many misconceptions about pole dancing that it would take me a lot of time and a lot of blog posts to begin to address them all.
Instead of addressing everything pole dancing ISN’T, I can just refer you to this amazing Why I Dance Film about a group of women who can SHOW you everything that pole dancing IS.
I found this video and these photos on Buzzfeed in an article written by Keely Flaherty (Read the Buzzfeed article here). The film was incredibly inspiring, so much so, that the same day I saw it I decided to finally buckle down and finish creating this blog.
All of the women are so different and diverse which makes it even more beautiful to watch. When they come together at the end, you can FEEL the passion and how real the love for dance is. They are brilliantly unapologetic and they break apart many pole dancing stereotypes in a fluid, artistic and truly inspiring way.
